Every once in a while a producer comes along with a refreshed approach to making a style of music that we are already familiar with, be it house, hip hop, jazz or soul. Some try hard to make a difference, others just have a fortunate knack. It would be unfair to say that the intricate and deeply woven beats of 22 year old Floating Points have acquired a special something simply through chance or luck. An accomplished pianist since the age of 16, Sam Sheppard aka Floating Points has been creating soulful compositions for quite some time. In 2009 they will begin to see there way onto the shelves of respectable record shops through the newly established 'Eglo' records. Wearing his influences clearly on his sleeve the London based producer draws inspiration from Sun Ra and Dorothy Ashby just as much as he does Dj Premier or Theo Parrish.

Already having produced a mix on Mary Anne Hobbs BBC Radio show before even so much as releasing one record, Floating Points has been created a massive buzz on the underground music scene and gained huge support from dj's Gilles Peterson and Benji B!

Fans of Hudson Mohake, Flying Lotus, Onra and generally fantastic music will love this!
