Rare and sought-after tracks from the late sixties and seventies performed by many of Jamaica’s best-loved female acts, including Marcia Griffiths, Judy Mowatt, Dawn Penn, Doreen Schaeffer and Hortense Ellis.
Entitled ‘Melody Life: Trojan Sisters’, the compilation includes numerous recordings that have been unavailable for decades, with all but three making their debut on Trojan CD. Among these are two Candy McKenzie recordings cut for Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry at Black Ark in 1977 that have remained unavailable since the original date of issue. Yet, despite the scarcity of the material, the music is of the highest order and result in this being one of the best ever collection of female Reggae to see issue.
