Here the spotlight is on library music legend James Clarke, whose absolutely gorgeous 'Girl on the Beach' album (1969) forms part of this CD. Originally issued on the short-lived Aristocrat label, which was in fact a commercial offshoot of the famed KPM 1000 Series of library music recordings, 'Girl on the Beach' gave James the opportunity of writing nine original compositions. Enchanting, romantic and lyrical, each composition is scored for small orchestra; they are augmented by his equally beautiful arrangements of 'pop' standards The Fool on the Hill, This Guy's in Love with You and Dedicated to the One I Love. The remainder of the CD comprises the 1968 KPM 1000 Series album 'Gentle Sounds', which features fifteen similarly beguiling numbers by five of KPM's best-known composers - Johnny Pearson, Keith Mansfield, David Lindup, Steve Gray and James Clarke.
